Orlando, Florida, USA – 15 September 2009

Welcome to our website and the first of what will be many updates and video blogs as we travel the world.

With only weeks to go until our departure, we are very excited to get on the road. But there are so many things for us to do. From getting plane tickets, to acquiring the camera equipment, to finalizing where we will actually be going, we are still very busy making the final preparations.

This summer has been a non-stop adventure. It started in June with my final days at the International Olympic Committee in Switzerland. (Check out this video we shot on my last day at the office in Lausanne.)

My last official week of work with the IOC actually took place in Vancouver, Canada, where we conducted a week’s worth of meetings with my counterparts at the Vancouver 2010 Organizing Committee.  It was a bit sad to leave Vancouver with the Games only a few months away, but after attending the last three Olympic Games, I think it will be fascinating to observe how the Olympics are “consumed” in other parts of the world. One of my last assignments with the IOC was to conduct a few video interviews with some of the top staff at the Vancouver committee, and hearing their stories made me realize what they are doing there is amazing. It will be a spectacular Olympic Games this winter, rich in great sport and Canadian culture.

Following our trip to Vancouver, most of July and August were spent on the road in the United States, talking to people about the project, and exploring the opportunities for collaboration. Travels have taken me to Los Angeles, New York, Washington D.C., Atlanta and down the eastern seaboard to Florida, where we will stay until our departure. The feedback we have been getting has been amazing and there is a lot of energy being built into this project.

We are even more excited about the travel yet to come!  We have committed to exploring Africa first, as we are not only keen to learn more about this fascinating continent, but realize there will be a great deal of interest in stories out of Africa ahead of next year’s football World Cup to take place in South Africa next June. Although we are still putting together the exact itinerary, at the least we plan to be at the World Cup in June next year, the first Olympic Youth Games in Singapore in August 2010, and the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India in October 2010.

We have also spent some time creating a more dynamic website. We invite everyone to SIGN UP on the site for our weekly email blast so that we can keep you updated on this amazing adventure. On our site you can find more information about the project, who we are and what we are trying to do with this project.

As always, we welcome your comments, ideas and suggestions, as much of the content and story ideas come from you. So please contact us and let us know what you think.

We look forward to having you along for the ride!
